Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) sit at the heart of who we are, both as a social housing provider and as an employer.

We work with and for a wide range of communities; our colleagues and residents come from many different backgrounds. Everyone should feel welcome, respected and treated fairly, whether you live in one of our homes, work with us, or collaborate with us.

Homes for living, Communities for life.

We believe providing homes starts with creating a culture where everyone feels welcome, heard, and valued. It is important that our employees can bring their full self to work, so they can be authentic enabling a more inclusive workplace.

We work to ensure that:

  • Our services are accessible to all, with adjustments made wherever possible to meet individual needs
  • Our colleagues feel supported in the workplace and have equal opportunities to grow and thrive
  • We act against discrimination, inequality or harassment if it occurs
  • Our decisions, policies and services are informed by listening to our customers and employees

Here’s how we put these values into action:

  • As a Disability Confident Leader, we attract, recruit and support colleagues with disabilities and long‑term health conditions
  • We’ve launched inclusive recruitment training and reviewed job descriptions to remove unconscious bias
  • We run staff networks and listening sessions to amplify voices
  • We support national and local EDI campaigns, from Pride to Black History Month
  • We partner with local organisations to make our homes and communities more welcoming and accessible
  • We’re proud of the progress so far, and we’re committed to doing more.

We invite you to explore the achievements, stories and commitments that bring our EDI values to life on this page.

As part of our team of employees, we currently employ 28 colleagues who have a declared disability. We are the third business to achieve this in Buckinghamshire and only the eighth Housing Association nationally. We’re committed to doing even more to support individuals working at Fairhive with disabilities and ensuring we keep our Level 3 Disability Confident Leader status.
