Community Spirit at the Woodlands

In September, we ran a community fete at our Independent Living Scheme in aid of residents getting to know their neighbours better and find out more information on village networks. We had a great turnout where residents were able to make connections and find sources of support within the local community to help avoid social isolation. Several local organisations came together to offer information regarding their services and activities that are run in the village. We were joined by the Haddenham FISH scheme, a local charity providing transport for Haddenham residents in need and The Monday Club, which runs a weekly group for retired people with a programme of activities and speakers. We welcomed residents to meet their neighbours, enjoy a cuppa and chat with the team, and our Community Engagement Team offered our popular Plant and Pot activity whilst speaking about our volunteering and training opportunities.

We received some fabulous feedback from one of our residents who attended.

“Recently Fairhive organised a most interesting event here at Woodlands. Both my wife and I benefited greatly.

I was able to have a conversation with the Community team at Fairhive, enquiring about what training is available to me in terms of helping fellow tenants who needed sympathy and understanding. I was sent the details very promptly of a course offered by Mind - "Conversations in the Community", which I am now taking.

Thank you to Fairhive for having hosted this event.”
