Farwell to our Board Chair, Steven Stringer

This month, we say a fond farewell to our Board Chair, Stephen Stringer, as he steps down after nine years of dedicated service to Fairhive Homes.
From guiding us through the challenges of a global pandemic and financial crises, to overseeing us rebrand from Vale of Aylesbury Housing Trust to Fairhive Homes, Stephen’s leadership has been invaluable. He has played a central role in our growth, from welcoming Buckinghamshire Housing Association into our organisation, to strengthening our services and keeping residents at the heart of all we do.
Stephen has often described his role as “the conductor of an orchestra,” ensuring the Board and our employees work in harmony toward shared goals. His commitment, insight and countless hours of dedication leave a lasting impact on our organisation.
He added, “Reflecting on my journey with Fairhive Homes, I've attended 58 Board meetings, 32 Remuneration & Selection Committee meetings, 46 Development & Asset Committee meetings, and 13 Board away days. Not to mention the numerous other sessions such as Budget Working Groups, Business Plan Working Groups, Stress Testing sessions, Recruitment Panels, and Resident Forum meetings. I'm also proud to have had a whopping 108 one-to-one meetings with our CEO, Matthew Applegate, where we have discussed ideas to advance Fairhive.
What brings me the most joy and inspiration is spending time with our residents. As I leave after nine years, I want you all to feel confident. Being part of this amazing organisation is truly special, and working with those who serve is incredibly powerful. I want to thank all the residents I have met as resident Board members, members of the Residents Forum, Scrutiny Groups, and at various events for constantly reminding me that our sole purpose is to serve you and provide you with the homes you deserve.
This journey has been incredible, marked by growth, learning, and teamwork and I remain excited for what lies ahead for Fairhive Homes.”
We thank Stephen for his incredible contribution and wish him the very best for the future.
