Free Family Days Out Return This July and August
Running throughout July and August, the initiative offers a series of free, organised days out designed to bring communities together, support families, and provide memorable experiences for children and young people during the school break.
This year’s programme is shaping up to be one of the most exciting yet, with a variety of trips and experiences catering to a wide range of interests and abilities. Highlights include:
Thomley Activity Centre – Friday, 31 July, 10:00 – 15:30
Pony trekking and grooming – Tuesday, 4 August, 9:00 – 15:00
A hands-on countryside experience where participants can learn about horse care and enjoy time outdoors.
Whipsnade Zoo – Wednesday, 12 August, 9:30– 16:30
A chance to explore one of the UK’s largest wildlife conservation parks and get up close to animals from around the world.
New for 2026: Gulliver’s Land Resort – Wednesday, 26 August, 09:45 – 16:45
A full day of rides, attractions and family entertainment at this popular theme park destination.
The Summer Fun programme is part of a wider effort to strengthen our communities and support local families by sharing more about our services. By providing structured, engaging activities at no cost, the initiative helps reduce financial pressures during the holidays while creating opportunities for residents to connect and build relationships.

Due to the popularity of the programme, spaces are limited for each event and must be secured in advance. All sessions are strictly by confirmed booking only. Priority will be given to residents who actively volunteer with us and those who complete our online surveys and provide feedback.
