Funding secured to retrofit 550 homes and cut energy bills

We are proud to announce we have successfully secured funding from the Government’s Warm Homes: Social Housing Fund (Wave 3), enabling us to upgrade 550 of our residents’ homes, enhancing energy efficiency and reducing heating costs.
The funding, along with additional investment means we can allocate nearly £14m to support our ambitious retrofit programme to improve energy performance, reduce carbon emissions, and cut energy bills for a significant number of our residents. In line with the Government’s aim, we will focus on properties currently below Energy Performance Certificate rating C, carrying out a range of improvements including insulation, upgraded heating systems, solar panels, and other low-carbon technologies.
Miatta Fahnbulleh, Minister for Energy Consumers, commented “Living in a warm, comfortable home should not be a luxury. It is a right that has been out of reach for too many people for too long. By giving this funding to local authorities and social housing providers, we are delivering on our promise to improve the homes of thousands of people across England. As part of our Plan for Change, we are powering on with our Warm Homes Plan, upgrading cold and draughty homes so they are warmer, cleaner, and cheaper to live in.”
The next stage of our retrofit programme will begin this Summer, with works being completed in 2028. Residents whose homes are part of the programme will be contacted directly and guided through each stage of the journey.
Cecily Church, our Head of Sustainability added: “We are committed to delivering sustainable, affordable housing for the future. This funding will help us scale up our significant ongoing retrofit programme. The upgrades will make our residents’ homes warmer, more energy-efficient, and more affordable to run. They are vital in achieving a rapid yet fair transition to low carbon living”.
