Terms and Conditions
1. Promoter
The promoter of this giveaway is Fairhive Homes ("Fairhive").
2. Purpose
Fairhive is offering a limited number of solar eclipse viewing glasses to help residents safely observe the partial solar eclipse expected on 12 August 2026 and to encourage interest in science and the natural world.
3. Eligibility
- The giveaway is open to current Fairhive residents aged 18 or over.
- Only one entry per household is permitted.
- Employees of Fairhive may participate in the separate staff allocation.
4. Resident Giveaway
- A total of 100 pairs of solar eclipse glasses are available through the resident social media giveaway.
- Residents must follow the instructions provided in the social media post to enter.
- Entrants must like and comment on the giveaway post during the stated entry period.
- Winners will be selected from eligible entries at random.
- Successful entrants will be contacted directly by Fairhive.
- Each successful household may receive a maximum of two pairs of glasses.
- No cash alternative is available.
5. Allocation and Availability
- The number of glasses available is strictly limited.
- Fairhive reserves the right to allocate fewer or more glasses to individual activities if operational requirements require.
- The decision of Fairhive regarding allocation and distribution is final.
6. Collection
- Glasses must be collected from the location and on the date specified by Fairhive.
- Collection arrangements will be confirmed directly with successful recipients.
- Glasses will not be posted or delivered.
- Uncollected glasses may be reallocated at Fairhive's discretion.
7. Product Safety
- The glasses supplied are intended to be certified solar viewing glasses compliant with the relevant solar observation safety standard (ISO 12312-2), subject to confirmation from the supplier.
- Recipients should inspect the glasses before use and must not use them if they are damaged, scratched, torn, or otherwise compromised.
- Children must be supervised by a responsible adult at all times while using the glasses.
8. Safe Use
By accepting the glasses, recipients acknowledge and agree that:
- They will follow all manufacturer instructions supplied with the glasses.
- They understand that looking directly at the sun without appropriate eye protection can cause serious eye damage.
- They will not use the glasses if they appear damaged.
- They will supervise any child using the glasses.
9. Disclaimer
- Fairhive is providing solar eclipse glasses free of charge as part of a community engagement initiative.
- Fairhive is not responsible for any injury, loss, or damage arising from the misuse, improper use, modification, or failure to follow the manufacturer's instructions regarding the solar eclipse glasses.
- Users are responsible for ensuring they use the glasses safely and appropriately.
10. Privacy
- Personal information collected for the purpose of administering the giveaway will only be used to manage the allocation and collection of the glasses.
- Personal information will be used, in accordance with our privacy notice, to contact the recipient for the purpose of this competition.
11. General
- Fairhive reserves the right to amend, withdraw, or suspend the giveaway at any time where it becomes necessary to do so.
- Entry into the giveaway constitutes acceptance of these terms and conditions.
